of muscular power of the stomach ; (3) due to inflammations of the stomach ; (4) to nervous disturbances of the mechanism of the stomach(5) due to displacements of the stomach; (6; to presence of foreign bodies, and dyspepsia dependent upon diseases of other organs, e.g., phthisis, heart disease, kidney trouble, etc., etc. Two other chapters deal in a complete manner with dyspepsia in infancy and in old age and with intestinal indigestion. The chapter on displacements of the stomach is very satisfactory and the various methods of treatment for these distressing conditions are clearly explained and the fact is emphasised that gastroptoxis exists in many persons who never suffer from dyspepsia, so that perfect digestion is compatible with an abnormal position of the stomach.
